Please Help Liberate My Brother William- Request for donations to receive the Liberation Treatment for MS

Please take a moment to read this!

I am sending out this email asking for donations to help raise funds for my oldest brothers ‘Liberation Treatment’ for his MS (Multiple Sclerosis) on January 7, 2011 which is costing my family $13,000. I normally don’t do these kinds of things but since my brother was diagnosed with MS three years ago his quality of life has dramatically declined. His walking, his balance, his overall movements, his strength, he’s constantly fatigued and so much more are a few things that have been dramatically affected. He recently turned 30 and is only getting worse with each day that passes. After long and painful months of researching he has decided to get the controversial but refreshing ‘Liberation Treatment’ done in California on January 7, 2011.

The CCSVI Liberation Treatment involves using balloon angioplasty to open veins in the neck and sometimes inserting tiny cylinders called stents to keep them open. The theory is based on opening up the veins and allowing blood flow as studies have shown a large number of MS patients veins are smaller than normal or partially blocked. I won’t get into the whole ideology behind it (links with information provided below) but this treatment which is ‘Unavailable’ in Canada to those ONLY with MS is having thousands of MS suffers going to Poland, USA, India and so on for the treatment. The choice my brother has made isn’t easy on my family – But regardless if he decided not to have the procedure done his quality of life is only going to worsen so he is willing to take the chance and get this procedure done knowing the risks. There has been an extraordinary large amount of success stories where MS patients were able to walk again on their own, feel less fatigued, feel their feet and limbs again and overall take back control of their body. There have also been some stories of the procedure showing no benefits. It’s extremely risky but most reports are showing great successes after the procedure. There is a huge outcry by multiple organizations, doctors, citizens and alike to allow this procedure to follow the path of other countries and allow it to be done on MS patients in Canada. You can YouTube hundreds of success stories and find them online easily. MS is something nobody wants to live with on a daily basis. I am asking (and to be honest my family doesn’t even know I am doing this) If you could donate anything to help raise funds for the procedure which is costing my family $13,000. I know deep down my parents wouldn’t ever ask for help like this but I know it’s taking a massive toll on them. So please if you could donate anything to help raise money to help my brother potentially change his life I would be more than grateful and the gratitude I feel is inexpressible. I copied a note my brother wrote a few nights ago – I took it off his face book page without his consent for the purpose to explain what he is going through in his own words.

''Where my head is at by William Ducey on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 7:22am

by William Ducey on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 7:22am

The starting of Jan I am having the "liberation" treatment. I have heard and seen many good things about the treatment. I have heard some, only a few, but some bad things none the less. I understand that it’s not necessarily the safest procedure...but it is just as safe as chemo, or many other procedures. It is defiantly safer than heart surgery or other traumatic hospital experiences. I am a fighter, so please do not misinterpret this, but I do not want to live with MS any more. It is hard...losing your independence....your ability to play guitar...so many important things. The ability to play guitar or any musical instrument again is all I ask for. I would like to be able to walk again; I’d like to sleep thru a whole night without waking up every few hours to go to the washroom.
I do not want to stick myself with a needle ever again ( I’ve decided that if there is significant improvement that last for 3-4 months I will stop taking my meds) I threw a snowball yesterday and I tried hard, it only travelled 10-15 meters (not far) and I fell to my knees from the attempt (I’m ok, I did not hurt myself) to throw a ball comfortably, to turn around when someone calls my name, to be able to look straight or up while walking instead of down...is this too much to hope for.....I’m worried because if these things don’t happen, where will I be? The stuff I have to deal with is mine...I am happy to have this life and lucky, even with this illness, but I want to be normal again. It is so hard to get through a day sometimes with a straight face...I’m not sure everyone could do it, but I don’t want to.... change, please change things for me''
I ask – Please make a donation of any contribution – I don’t want this looked at as a pity trip or to make anyone feel obligated or bad if they don’t. All I am asking is for any help possible. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced. I couldn’t even imagine what my parents are going through and even more so my brother. Thank you so much for your time and for hearing this story – Thank you for your donations. I promise that all the funds raised will only be put towards my brothers surgery costs ($13,000) if the amount raised surpasses that total than all extra funds would be donated to the MS Society of Canada for further research into illness.

Fall Fashion Trends 2010- From Frilly to Hardcore, it's all here this Fall!

If you are above the 45th parallel N then I’m pretty sure you have started to notice that our days no longer have been reaching highs of 30C+ and watching the sunset at 9pm while sipping that must needed frosty cocktail is now only a distance memory… SLAP! Yes, you need to stop daydreaming! Fall IS approaching and so are the fabulous fall fashion trends! Fall fashion is the most exciting in my books! Instead of trying to wear as little as possible to keep out the heat, you can actually layer your clothes! YAY! I love layering!

There are a variety of trends that may tickle your fancy this season! Here are a few options for these autumn months!

Colours of the season-
Beige, tan, grey, grey-blue, white, black
Bold colours

Aggressive and Tailored- (Harper’s Bazaars “Urban Warrior”)

A trend for and strong woman with and urban chic edge have been dominating the runway, which is a far cry from this summers flowy and ultra feminine styles. There will be tons of tailored fur coats and aggressively structured pieces with interesting lines to look forward to! This trend is hard and aggressive but still oddly has a feminine spin!

Old-fashioned Glamour

This beautiful trend is the return of quality and classic style. This trend has major staying power potential! Everything here is polished, well constructed from a variety of eloquent sensual dresses leaving everything to your imagination to structured car coats. Well tailored skirt suits are the cherry on top for this beautifully understated trend. Trend colours: Grey, Beige, Grey Blue White.

The 70’s

DISCO! The 70’s have finally returned!
This fall you can expect to see a strong influence of the studio 54 high-waisted pants and wide leg flares. Looking back to this retro style, expect lots of metallics, sheen materials, roll neck sweaters and slinky gowns. I think that I am most excited for all the cool belts that will be available this fall, thanks to you 70’s!

Bohemian Baby!

The bohemian style is something that not everyone may be able to pull off, but if you can, then you are in for a treat with this flowly and sensual trend. Mixing flowing flower print with tailored masculine peices or deconstructed yet finely tuned dresses will keep you on top! Picture frills, tulle, lace, sheer, light fabrics with a hard edge.!

The Great Outdoors

Mixing masculine and feminine will be one of the more common fall/winter trends and I suspect that we will be seeing this the most. Military… yes… AGAIN, clothing pieces will be influenced mostly by Georgian and Victorian eras rather then the most recent (?) WW1-WW2 styles. Not only is military in, another popular “woodsy” trend is all the rage, mixing classic preppy styles with ‘woodsy’ materials like tweed, fur, and colours like grey, black, tan, rust & beige. On the runways, many oversized jackets have been seen.

Unconventional & Quirky- The wildest trend this season!

This must be my favourite trend of the season! Unfortunately, I do not have a stylist and I don’t know if I could master such a unique structured deconstruction, yet I think it is completely fabulous! Mixing both deconstruction with tailor pieces, floral patterns with plaids and varying fabrics make this overwhelming bold and perfectly placed chaos something everyone should attempt this season! Maybe being for the more quirky of us, this trend has no limit!

Lots of Love,

BeautySoClean Makeup Sanitizer & Conditioning Brush Cleaner

The last thing I ever really think about when I’m applying my makeup is the amount of bacteria that could be in my makeup or on my brushes! For a woman that has problematic skin, like me, it is essential that you keep your brushes/makeup as sanitary as you possibly can. Last November when I went to IMATs in Toronto, my mum and I came across a booth called BeautySoClean, which sells a variety of products used for sanitizing makeup… After watching the demonstration and my mum bombarding the poor sales girl with a million and one questions, I decided to purchase both the Makeup Sanitizer spray and the Conditioning Brush Cleaner.

What is BeautySoClean all about?
BeautySoClean is a company that is dedicated in creating products for cleaning and sanitizing makeup. They claim that their products are clinically proven to effectively remove common bacteria from all makeup products within 10 seconds.
The three types of common bacteria that BSC says they can remove are Staphylococcus Aureus (or staff), Pseudomemonas Aeruginosa and Escherichia Coli (also known as E-Coli).

Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist
The Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist is obviously a mist that you spray onto your powder or cream makeup products to remove bacteria that may have been transferred onto the product by your skin or application tools. The CSM will also keep your powder makeup looking new by preventing “glazing” from oils in your skin a skin care products (Glazing is when your powder products have build up, and looks shiny when it’s suppose to be matte). CMS can prevent glazing but will not reverse damage that has already been done.

Direction of Use
Hold Cosmetic Sanitizer and mist from six inches/15 cm away from product surface. Mist once, product will dry within 10 seconds.

Packaging/ Ease of Use
The packaging is very simple. Mine comes in a white 8.5 fl ounce bottle with a generic pump. Has nice and simple packaging with quick and straight to the point directions. Pump is consistent, with good flow. Incredibly easy to use, all it takes is one spray on your desired cream or powder product and you are good to go!

Smell/ Consistency
There is a very mild sent of alcohol, similar to a nail polish remover yet 100x more mild. Once the product has dried there is no visible smell. CSM has the same consistency as water.

Price Point/ Bang for your Buck?
Online: $12.50 for Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist 8ml (0.27 fl. oz) – (Orders delivered in 2 to 3 weeks). This is definitely worth your while! The bottle may seem small, but you should receive roughly 80 sprays from a 0.27 fl. Oz container.

I would say that this product is definitely a winner! It keeps your makeup clean and protects you from harmful bacteria!

*Note* I bought mine at the Toronto 2009 IMATS where they had a booth. They had a special show promotion where you can buy an 8.5 fl. Oz bottle for $25.00! It’s a good idea to check out IMATS if it is coming to your area!

Conditioning Brush Cleaner
Formulated with natural ingredients this is a super efficient yet gentle makeup brush cleaner that will dissolve all makeup residue and will leave your brushes feeling soft and clean. This product is meant for day or day brush cleaning and should not be substituted for a deep cleaner.

Direction of Use
Spray bristles of desired makeup brush with CBC, then take a paper towel and swirl around to remove product. *another great way (if you are more of a liberal type) is to saturate a section of the paper towel with CBC and then swirl the brush around until the colour is removed!

Packaging/ Ease of Use
The packaging is very simple. Mine comes in a clear 8.5 fl ounce bottle with a generic pump. Has nice and simple packaging with quick and straight to the point directions. Pump is consistent, with good flow. Very easy to use, will require a paper towel or facecloth to help remove the product form the brush!

Smell/ Consistency
Has no smell at all and is the same consistency as water.

Price Point/ Bang for your Buck?
Online: $20.00 for Conditioning Brush Cleanser 125ml (4 fl. oz)  – (Orders delivered in 2 to 3 weeks) This is definitely worth your while! This bottle should last you for a few months! I’ve had mine almost a year and use it about 2-3 sprays a day and I would imagine that I have only used 2oz of mine! I recommend this product for anyone who is serious about the hygiene of their brushes!

*Note* I bought mine at the Toronto 2009 IMATS where they had a booth. They had a special show promotion where you can buy an 8.5 fl. Oz bottle for $25.00! It’s a good idea to check out IMATS if it is coming to your area!

Where Can I Buy This?
In Canada, you can purchase these products at the Bay. I am not sure about pricing. Otherwise, the www.beautysoclean.com website ships only to Canada and the US, BUT they have a store locator for most international countries! Make sure to check out the site for more info!

Final Thought…
I am so happy that I came across these wonderful products! Like I said before, as I am a woman who suffers from adult acne, it is key for me to have products that will help remove excess oils off my tools and to sanitize my makeup, so I am not further harmed by dreaded bacteria! No matter the use, whether it is personal or for your kit, it is a perfect edition for any person who wears makeup.

With Love,
X
